As more supply and choice becomes available, it will allow Mexico to have greater access to these technologies and keep pace with the global adoption of these technologies and their benefits.

Infrastructure

Measures that promote access to and availability of charging infrastructure are key to the adoption of electric vehicles.

Among them, the possibility of installing chargers in homes and apartments, nationwide coverage and availability of fast charging are key.

There must be policies and regulations that allow the development of competitive and rapidly deployable charging networks that allow growth to keep pace with the demand for cars.

Demand

Demand-side incentives include financial and non-financial support, education and administrative benefits for the purchase and use of vehicles.

The greatest impact of electric vehicles is in their use within cities.

Mexico should seek not only a production Hub but also promote their use in order to reduce transportation-related emissions, mitigate environmental impact and reduce negative effects on health-related issues.

Public Policy

Establish clear adoption targets for all stakeholders to serve as a guide to align policies and promotion mechanisms. For example, EMA recommends that 50% of new passenger vehicles sold in Mexico should be 100% electric and zero emissions.

For these to be effective, they need to be ambitious, requiring substantial changes.

All incentive and regulatory strategies must be aligned with this vision.
