Promoting Clean Air and Emissions Reduction

The transportation sector is responsible for approximately 20% of global CO2 emissions.

Electric vehicles produce no local emissions of polluting gases. Large metropolises have major challenges in achieving clean air and the transition to electric vehicles could help to significantly reduce pollution and consequent respiratory diseases.

Regulation and practices that encourage adoption and education

EMA will work with government institutions at different levels, and will collaborate with different types of organizations to promote regulation that will help accelerate the adoption of electric mobility in the country.

From efficiency regulation, tax incentives, as well as normative regulations that generate ease of adoption to all types of players to accelerate the adoption, as well as promote knowledge and awareness about the benefits of electric mobility through the development of relevant sector information to inform and raise awareness about the benefits of adopting electric mobility in Mexico.

Demand-side incentives include financial and non-financial support, education and administrative benefits for vehicle purchase and use.

The greatest impact of electric vehicles is in their use within cities.

Mexico should seek not only a production Hub but also promote their use in order to reduce transportation-related emissions, mitigate environmental impact and reduce negative effects on health-related issues.

Economic Growth and Employment

Mexico has the right conditions to develop a new electric vehicle manufacturing ecosystem. In this way, it could take advantage of the global and regional situation of this transition to generate billions of dollars in economic development opportunities.

The transition to electric mobility, including local electric vehicle manufacturing and adoption-related services, opens up the real possibility of creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs in the coming years in a root-and-branch change that is revolutionizing the automotive industry.
